Mental

Mental

A Poem by Joey Martinez

He cares about your body but what about your mental health?
Persuading you to go the gym but never wants to talk about the pain that's been dealt.
Those squats aren't for you but rather for him
So you can look even more heavenly with a dash of sin
But deep inside your head you're holding the white flag surrendering to the negativity that's long been fed
Craving a conversation avoiding the temptation of sex
Asking him to have a chat but you know what comes next
He starts kissing your neck
Ignoring the signs that you're mentally wrecked
But as long as your body is in check and has the best specs you're just becoming his object
So you push him away and ask him if he thinks this is okay while he smiles his way into getting another lay
But not today, you leave him behind, what he's doing to you is a crime and this is the time it ends, don't settle for a tempting lover, find yourself a nourishing friend

Ugh, this is incredible. I'm sure a lot of women/ men can see from both points of view.

This is so powerful. Millions of people understand. Mental health is a problem that many people go through with fake smiles and broken hearts.

The rhyming and writing style was impeccable.

Always, Gina
