Reflection

Reflection

A Poem by Joey Martinez

I learned to look past my imperfections
And appreciate the man that lies in the mirrors reflection
I've learned to ignore the negative reception of individuals who feed off my defections
And I love my women the same, who don't care how they look and stay on track while others inspect themselves on the shoulder lane
Too much time goes into finding affection
When they don't even appreciate their own reflection
Trying to find that connection, trying to avoid rejection
Appreciate yourself first, cherish your complextion
Avoid the subjection of these celebrities who buy their looks because they can't handle being sectioned
Appreciate yourself
Appreciate yourself
Appreciate yourself
