Interception

Interception

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Good intentions tagged along with a good heart
But life has yet to throw him a bone from the very start
Drowning away the sorrow with music events and drugs like there's no tomorrow
What started out as a simple crush
Later evloved into a crutch
Looking up rather than down
A smile is worn instead of a frown
A connection takes place
The image of his lovers face can't be erased
He might be in love
Peace is found, his white dove
Blinded by the affection he's unaware of his lovers unwanting stares
His lover is focused on the past
An on and off again individual makes its way through the glass
As time goes on the phone calls become shorter
The distance becomes longer
The bone that was thrown is intercepted
This poor man begins to feel neglected
The Marijuana smoke becomes heavier
Wallets become lighter
Trying to find anything to make his days brighter
If I can offer my advice I would tell you this
You'll find the right one soon, the bone will be caught not missed
