Low

Low

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Who are you to judge what I do, hush girl now watch me stick this needle through
Reality is cruel, an unbalanced duel that leaves me on empty, no fuel.
No energy, no desire to stay away from the needle and the fire.
And don't you dare say tomorrow is a new day because you're a flat out liar.
Everyday brings the same pain along with its showering rain.
But here I am standing tall trying not to fall from this whiskey I stole from a high school ball.
Stumbling to my lane where I demand change for a quick fix so I don't go insane
Reminiscing about my childhood youth
Where all I had to worry about was losing my front tooth
Look at me now, the star of the show
Watch me sink, look how low I can go
