Fast

Fast

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Storming out the driveway there she goes
Bags packed along with her woes
Destination heart break city
Another good girl destroyed it's such a pity
Cruising down 95 trying to outrun her mistakes
High off regrets unaware of the dead end that awaits
She's trapped there's no where to go
Which is why she turned to the alcohol and snow
Down the throat and up the nose
Her problems are erased time has froze
She's unstable because she's starting to figure out that loves a fable
A broken heart can be fixed
But she refuses a bandage and seeks a kiss
Connection takes time
So before you snort that second line
Realize that all will be fine
Park the car and take a deep breath
Love awaits not death
Throw the blow
And pour the alcohol away
Tomorrow is a new day
