High Girl

High Girl

A Poem by Joey Martinez

You are the drug of my delight
The toxin to which I aspire
I wait for you day and night
And when you're absent I expire
You are the risk that feeds my blood
You are the smoke I inhale
I want you to last forever
Please don't go stale
You make the sun shine brighter
Gravity feels lighter
Colors become vibrant
And nothing sounds more beautiful than silence
You are the drug that makes me write
Magnetized to the pen
I'm becoming addicted to you
And I see no end
You keep me high
But drag me low
Cupid must have sent you
With its heroine laced bow
Cocaine laced lips
LSD swayed hips
Marijuana scented breath
Losing you scares me more than death
You're my shot of jack
You're my late night swig
You're my sinful desire
You're my needle and fire
