Itching

Itching

A Poem by Joey Martinez

She was raised to steer away from drugs
Always say no to those appearing as thugs
But as she grew older
And noticed the world was colder
She cracked under pressure
So she took drastic measures
And no I'm not talking about herion or meth
I speak of fear and love, the drugs of death
Fear injects though her veins and up to her mind
Making her paranoid, aching as the seconds go by
Fear made her once clear vision
Cut herself open like a surgeons incision
She begged for someone to kick her habit of fear
Wishing upon the stars a young man would come near
And it came true
A young man came forth and said I love you
But as the clock ticked and tocked
The young lad grew tired of her and began to flock
The drug of love began to come down
So she injected herself with fear until someone came to town
But no one came across her lane
More fear has been injected, she becomes insane
Itching for a taste of love
Lying in a state of paranoia while wishing to God's up above
