Fly

Fly

A Poem by Joey Martinez

She insists she's bad for me
To be with her is blasphemy
A rock bottom creature dressed in catastrophe
But all I am witnessing is a exquisite creation of anatomy
Teary eyes, mascara falling to her chin
As she explains in detail about every last sin
"I'm a demon" she exclaims
Reminiscing about her torment and pain
Lashing about how she's the reason behind rain
Confused that I still stand face to face
Insisting she's nothing to me but a disgrace
But I put a blind eye to what she describes
Because I see a broken angel that again can fly
You see we all make mistakes
And I refuse to let hers decide her fate
I know it's not too late
To repair the damage she's done
Today's the day she'll stay instead of run
I'm no role model either but a good heart beats in me
I know she's drowning in regret but ill pull her out of the sea
Keep your head up high because soon you'll know
That a damaged rose can still grow
