Cruel Night

Cruel Night

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Her kiss spoke of goodbyes
I couldn't hold the tears coming from my eyes
Why oh why can't this night be a lie?
Why can't I erase this moment no matter how hard I try?
How can I feel so dead but yet I'm still alive
She holds me tight for one last time
And wipes away the tears from my eyes
Telling me please not to cry
As she walks away.... one last time
So I lie here gazing at the moon
Asking myself why did love have to end so soon
Even the moon has the stars to give it comfort
While I sit here alone in discomfort
Darkness we meet again
My well acquainted friend
Seems as if you'll stick with me until the end

i have had my share of cruel nights and for that reason I choose to be alone that way I can keep the cruel nights to a minimum while my eyes remain dry. Your vulnerability is interesting here because I come from a world where men don't cry and cold as steel.

love these lines:

Asking myself why did love have to end so soon
Even the moon has the stars to give it comfort

My well acquainted friend
Seems as if you'll stick with me until the end

well done.....
