Now You Care?

Now You Care?

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Why do you care when I'm buried in the ground?
Why not care when I'm physically around?
You saw me in pain
But you chose to walk in another lane
You saw me in trouble
You saw me struggle
But you just didn't care
You'd just turn around or simply stare
You knew I needed a hand
You knew I needed help to stand
But you watched me fall
And ignored my calls
But here you are
Staring at the stars
Wishing for me to come back
I would be alive if compassion wasn't something you lacked

It's so funny how we give up hope of people liking us and sometimes it is the opposite, we never know, we cannot go back in time even when we want to. Today I was thinking I would love to be 22, but I am in my mid-thirties and that is not the happiest thought to me.
