Can't Escape

I sit here writing another poem trying to forget
Trying to convince myself it wasn't a regret
Screaming at myself so I can believe I made the right choice
About keeping my distance so I won't ever hear your voice
But I can still hear your angelic tone calling my name
Which makes me realize my feelings are still the same
I love you, Its as simple as that
I pray each day I can rewind time and have you come back
But I can't, time has moved on and so have you
I'm not a man of many mistakes but you were one of the few
So I sit here trying to wonder about something else
But the subject of you finds it way on the shelf
I just don't know what to do
Why am I even writing about you
