Darker Tomorrow

Darker Tomorrow

A Poem by Joey Martinez

They say there is always a brighter tomorrow
But what do you do when it brings more sorrow
Can someone care to explain
And show me how to deal with this pain
I haven't had a peak of light
I'm becoming lost in the darkest nights
Each day brings a gift of pain
Open it up, here comes the rain
But the hope of a better tomorrow keeps me alive
Even though I can't control destiny no matter how I try
All I can do is pray to the sky
Hoping God can hear my cries
I'm on my knees begging for change
Hoping light comes near my range
But nothing comes no matter what I do
All I ask if for some light to break through
Its hard to have hope when your mind refuses
Its as if my mind is a bomb that's gone through numerous defuses
I'm falling victim to my own mind
Going more insane along with the time
Will I ever witness a sunny day?
I just hope the blackness fades to a lighter gray
