Be You

Be You

A Poem by Joey Martinez

You pretend to be this human that doesn't exist
To avoid the ignorance that loves to bliss
You avoid the torment, the mocking, the pain
You avoid who you are and drive on similarities lane
Don't be afraid to be who you are
Drive on the right lane, control the car
Don't let society steer
Be different and let society fear
Be weird, be mysterious
Make people believe that they are delirious
If you're different, embrace that gift
Switch gears and shift
Don't be like them
Be like you
