Lone Wolf

Lone Wolf

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Her face speaks of joy but those eyes visualize pain
Her smile shines like the sun but those eyes flood rain
I can see through her mask of lies
I can see her holding back a flood of cries
She's a lone wolf, she wants no one near
She wants no one to know her secrets or fears
But deep down she aches for someone to see beyond the mask of lies
She yearns for a soul to be the tissue that wipes away her cries
I can be that tissue, I can help her through the darkest times
I can show her that with one touch, everything will be fine
Each time I see her smile it kills me inside
Because all I see is the frown that hides
I see the tears, I see her fears, I see it all
But she hangs up every time I answer her calls
Let me help you lone wolf, You need a pack to conquer this inner war
Lets join forces so you don't have to experience this any more
This is your conscience speaking, listen to what I say
Let me add some color to your shades of gray
Together we can visualize brighter days
Let me help before you decay
I am the cure so let me stay
Things have gotten worse since you threw me away
