Cease Fire

Cease Fire

A Poem by Joey Martinez

There's a war taking place in my mind
But there are days where it ends and the sun shines
Those days are the ones I adore the most
So lets raise our glass and give a toast
The soldiers in my head have raised the white flag
Putting away their weapons and emptying their mags
And the victor of this cease fire is me, myself, and I
Because I can live another day without worry or cries
I am grateful the war is on hold
The nights were getting far too cold
But a boy can dream, hoping these thoughts end up dead
I just want to experience the feeling of having a clear head
Sadness, anger, delusion, all duke it out in a all out war
And it doesn't matter who wins no one is keeping score
The damage has been done
They have me trapped with no where to run
But not today, today is something new
I'm starting to feel normal..... just like you
