Hang On

Hang On

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Your hope is gone and so is mine
Maybe being happy is truly a crime
I know life has you ready to quit
You're the odd piece that doesn't quite fit
All these horrible thoughts clog your mind
Digging for positivity but there's nothing you can find
You feel trapped in this cage of emotions
You found the key of happiness but can't set it in motion
So you give up, you throw it away
Because depression took you in so why not stay?
You're walking on the tightrope of life
Hoping you don't fall on the platform of knives
Hoping you don't get pierced once again
Praying someone tosses you a hand to lend
Hang in there friend, don't let go
Soon you'll start seeing doves instead of crows
