False Appearance

False Appearance

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Let me explain
Come across my lane
No sun here just rain
No comfort just pain
You assume all is fine
You wish your life was mine
But you don't realize my life's a crime
More charges get added in due time
Take my eyes and see the despair
Come along and breath my poisonous air
Come sit down and grab a chair
Sit in this empty room and talk to the people who care
No one in their right mind would want to be me
If you wore the backpack of my pain you would fall to your feet
The demons in my head forbid to be discreet
You'll beg for mercy and try to retreat
So don't assume all is well
Happy faces have more sad stories to tell
Most happy people sit alone and dwell

This has a strong, somber tone to it which makes me love how honest and raw it is. I like how well you captured those negative feelings everyone feels about themselves and their lives at some point.
