Under The Tree

Under The Tree

A Poem by Joey Martinez

I'm waiting for your arrival under the tree
The spot where we drifted apart like the red sea
This location tells both euphoric and tragic tales
Just like the leaves, my heart is becoming stale
And our names are still carved and unscathed
The sight of that raises my anger like a vicious wave
Because I didn't want it to end like this
Actually I didn't want it to end at all
Ever since you left, my life took a tragic fall
I do my best to make time fly
So I can approach the grim reaper faster and tragically die
And laying here under our tree hurts me so much
Because this is where our lips first touched
This is where our minds connected
This is where you said I love you and meant it
This is where our souls vibed
And this is where our relationship died
I'm such a fool to believe you're coming back
Girl you know I love you and thats a fact
So come back to our tree of love
Like this tree we too can rise high above
