Broken

Broken

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Its been a while since we last laid eyes

The distance between us grew longer than the night skies

But I have two feet and my heart desires a journey

I am a daredevil, laws mean nothing to me I'm my own attorney

But I sit here alone, theres nothing I can do if you're frantically in need

I am a branch in the tree of love and you've planted the seed

But I am barely hanging on, I can feel myself falling apart

I only have one life, so if I fall theres no restart

I hope you can hear me crackling day by day

I try my best to cling on, so I can witness the sunshine of May

Broken, that's what I am

The emotions keep on flooding through the damaged dam

You can patch things up, you can fix my fragile soul

You can put fire back into my heart before it becomes coal

As each second passes, I feel our connection being distraught

Its only a matter of days before my branch of love gets cut

I am a troubled soul drowning in my own sorrows

A fool who hopes you will arrive within each tomorrow

But its broken, its all broken

I played the game of love and lost during the final token

Broken, I'm becoming broken
