Beautiful Presence

Beautiful Presence

A Poem by Joey Martinez

I'm just a blind little girl, no vision no sight
Hoping someone saves me from the darkness
And shows me the light
All my life I have been living in fear
Not knowing who surrounds me or if anyone is near
I have never seen the sun, the stars or the sky
But from what I hear, it sounds so beautiful it makes me wanna cry
Life has gave me a disadvantage, there are days where I lose it all and fall
Because I can't escape the darkness, I am trapped within its walls
I don't know who my parents are but their voice speaks of a calm presence
Their angelic tone and calm soothing touch is the essence
But of course there are times where I wish I can see their face
If the power of sight was at the end of the tunnel, I would forever chase
And for the first time I have made a friend, her voice speaks of care
I can not see her, but I can always sense when she is there
The darkness I see will always be a part of me
But I know good people surround me, for that I do not need to see
They are the beams of light that show me the path of enlightenment
I am forever grateful for the heart warming people that God has sent
I can not see, but I know their beauty is something that resembles heavens angels
Because they give me light, they give me sight, and protect me from any danger
