Rin

Rin

A Poem by Joey Martinez

She always comes at night
She always looks worried but I tell her that all is going to be alright
I never get her to speak, I never get her to say a single sound
And I still wonder why she comes around
I never seen her before, why does she appear
Why does she come to my room when I'm always here
The first time I saw her, I began to panic and she ran away
But the next night she came, I told her I was sorry and to please stay
I saw her ghostly spirit come by my side and stare at me with a frantic look
I tried not to stare at her the same way because last night she had me shook
I asked her "Why are you here?"
"I'm sorry I scared you but you caused me quite a bit of fear"
She said nothing but instead, gave me a smirk and looked away
So I asked her another question "Are you lost?" "Are you okay?"
Again she spoke no words and just looked at me with a blank stare
I told her "You can tell me anything, honestly I wanna know I care"
And thats when my heart skipped a beat, she still had not spoken but smiled
Her smile was the biggest I've seen out of any child
She began to come closer and slid under my arm
Thats when I knew that she had no intentions of harm
She comes on random nights, and dances around my room
As if she was dancing to a rhythm of funky tunes
I guess this spirit was searching all around for a friend
A friendship that had no downside nor no end
And people call me crazy for believing she exists
Hearing that makes me angry and produces my open hands to become fists
But its okay, I know hearing this is hard to take in
I know what lies in front of me, her name is Rin
Yes, I named her because everyone deserves a name
Even if it does kinda sound lame
But back to the point, I believe she exists I know what my eyes see
And I know she's looking for a friend to set her free
And once she realizes that I'll never flee
She will come to my open arms and speak
