Unpleasant Rest

Unpleasant Rest

A Poem by Joey Martinez

The sun is about to rise but what lowers is my hope
Seeing you with anyone but me is too hard to cope
And being without you has me dangling on the ropes
You give me balance but at the same time you are the push that will make me fall
You are the one who gives me life but also the one who can end it all
How can you be the antidote that saves me but the poison that hurts me
You make me bottle up my emotions but you also set them free
You're a joker, you play with my mind and heart
You have the power to fix it but you can also tear it apart
I wanted you, and you wanted me
But when things got serious you chose to flee
Just be honest, I can handle the pain
I need a straight answer before I go insane
My life was nothing but a dark night but you became my star
You gave me light and showed me things that were distant and far
But now that light is flickering, its here one day and off the next
Now please tell me the truth so my heart and mind can rest

Strong emotions playing here. Very well penned. You voiced your emotion and gave life to your words. Something not many poets can capture. Excellent write!
