Connection

Connection

A Poem by Joey Martinez

(BOY)
My life was dark like the night sky but then a star came to show me the light
You came out of no where and made everything feel alright
You approached me and shined so bright
You controlled all the emotions I was unwilling to fight
Its astonishing how you instantly knew I was in pain
Like you knew what emotions were rushing through my veins
I was linked to all these negative feelings but you broke the chain
I have never been so joyous in my life, I'm really glad you came
Your presence alone is more than enough to make me smile
And I noticed I'm kinda far from our hometown so thanks for walking all these miles
I know I never told you this but I appreciate your beauty, your humor, your style
Look at me blabbering about you, well I guess it helps get me out of this denial
You haven't said a word yet, and theres no need to speak
Your vibe was the one true thing I truly meant to seek
When your aura touched mine it repaired that negative emotional leak
You brought my heart together with that simple kiss on the cheek

(GIRL)
I sensed that you were in trouble you know we have that connection
I was gonna call you at first but I realized my phone has no reception
I knew those emotions and thoughts were catching you, so I came for the interception
Thats why I came here to meet up with you so we can have a little session
Ever since we departed I knew it was gonna be hard on you to grasp
But you had to know that me and you weren't going to last
I appreciate you for making my happiness the number one task
But you knew I has hiding something, so I took off my mask
And you still wanted to be with me no matter what the outcome
I remember you saying that you wanted to wake up to me instead of the sun
I still remember the beautiful things you said, I still remember the countless fun
But my love for you is close to being done
I appreciate you so much and all that you have said
But just realize that my love for you is close to being dead
I'm sorry for making you fat with all the lies that I fed
But its time for you to move on, don't stop like as if its red
I will always be there for you as a friend no matter what the case
But move on and catch up before you lose this race
I know you love me, but you'll soon find another face
And I want you to show her that strong loving grace
