Let It PourA Poem by Joey MartinezA Native American with luscious hair dark as the night Rides on top of her steed, so heavenly and white She looks up to God and says "Let it rain, show me your power" "I believe in you, now give me hope with a cleansing shower" The village she lived in was going through hard times Lately everything has become drastic but before all was fine The cleansing came to visit every night, providing everyone with heavenly rain Quenching their thirst, providing hope, and easing their pain All she asks is for the lord to bless all the villages that are dry She just wants the lord to tip his glass and let the water fall from the sky "Rain, I enjoy your company please come back and visit us again" "Come cleanse us and relieve us and mother natures pain" She prays and prays, but not a drop hits the ground But she still doesn't lose hope, she feels the rain will soon come around "Rain, please come forth and heal my broken heart" "I know some don't enjoy your presence, but I have been a fan since the start" "Rain, oh beautiful rinsing of the soul rain, come pour on me" "Fall down onto our village and set us free" "Come and blow the oceans breeze" "Oh marvelous rain, come here and sway the trees" "Rain, do you understand my pain and sorrow?" "If you do, please come back tomorrow" She finishes her prayer and sends a kiss to the sky Hoping that tomorrow the clouds come together and cry She lies down and goes into deep slumber A few hours pass by and she becomes awaken by a clash of thunder She rises up and looks up high And feels a rain drop hit her eye She becomes ecstatic, calling everyone in the village to come outside To witness what was coming down from the sky A tremendous amount of rain was pouring down Children, Women, Men, dancing all around She gazes up and gives thanks to the ruler of the sky "Thank you God, for providing us with the tears from my cries" © 2014 Joey Martinez |
