Escape From ISIS

Escape From ISIS

A Poem by Joey Martinez

They came in without notice and raided my home
Looking for other relatives but I kept yelling I was alone!
Blindfolded, badly beaten, and abused
They took everything that I needed and used
A man with a deep voice comes to speak
"Join us now our I'll beat until blood leaks"
I strongly refuse and he strikes me with his gun
That one hit had turned everything dark, I thought my life was done
When I awoke from my slumber I find myself naked in a cave
Along with other women who appear to be sex slaves
Surrounded by urine and feces, I try to keep myself together
Even though my true inner shell is delicate like a feather
Each of these women have scars on their bodies, tears in their eyes
Getting raped everyday until they pass out or even die
This is the power of ISIS, this is what they choose to do
If you don't join them in there quest for power, these women will be you
I try to speak to one of the women but none say a single word
The sight my eyes are witnessing is just absurd
A man comes in, handcuffs us all together and walks us towards another room
As I walk by, I see a room full of men being tortured, pain is all they consume
It seems as if they beat the men and rape the women they capture
But still, I can count on pain being a factor
We continue to walk and what my eyes see is something I wish I didn't behold
A room full of dead women, men, and children stacked on each other, covered in mold
A woman behind me whispers "If you do not obey them, that will be you"
She even said "If you even mistreat them, they'll feed you to the dogs so they have something to chew"
Hearing those words and seeing what I saw literally made me fall onto my knees
The leader felt a tug, looked back, saw me and beat me until I started to bleed
He yelled "get back up or you die!"
And I can tell by his voice that what he said wasn't a lie
With all my might, I got up and continued to walk
We walk into a room full of the leaders men, I can feels their eyes stalk
One by one they pick the woman they want and take them into a room
A man approaches me, grabs me sexually and takes me into my doom
He undresses me, touches me with force, and smiles at my naked chest
If I don't let him rape me, this would possibly be my last breath
I notice he left his gun unattended and quickly devise a plan
If I catch him off guard I can run to his gun and kill the man
I walk towards him, and begin to engage in lustful acts
My plan is working, my plan is still intact
I go down on him, unzip his pants and bite his balls
In pain he yells at the top of his lungs and falls
I run as fast as I can and grab the gun
I put a bullet in his dead, his life is done
I know that would draw attention so I look for a exit
I can jump out the window, but if I fail this is it
I can hear the men running up the stairs
I know if they catch me, my life would be in despair
Naked and hurt, I jump out the window and land on my back
Too hurt to get up, so I crawl my way towards a shack
I hear the shouting, I hear them talking about searching the camp for me
So I quickly crawl into the shack and close the door with my feet
I stay quiet and hidden hoping no one will find where I hide
I'm just a young women, I do not deserve to die
I cover my mouth so I don't let out the screams of pain
And I try not to look at my body, which is covered in blood stains
I sit here and pray ISIS doesn't find where I am
I just hope the person who opens that door, is someone who can take me back to my homeland
