Head First

Head First

A Poem by Joey Martinez

She sits by the lake, staring at her own reflection
Sick of falling for people's sick deception
She sits all alone, hoping someone can save her
But just like at home, no one is there for her
The water, so deep, so clear
Drowning in it can take away the fear
It can wipe away all those tears
Shes had enough of the feeling of being alone
Her heart was once big, but now its just a chunk of stone
If she could collect all those tears, it would be deeper than the lake
All those times where she put on a smile, were merely fake
She had to hide the excruciating pain
So she wouldn't drown herself in her tears that came falling down like rain
There is a limit to how much pain a person can take
But now she has a chance to end it all by jumping in this lake
Will she turn back and suffer, knowing things won't get better?
Or will she end it all now and have her parents come home to a suicidal letter?
She looks at her reflection only to notice that its smiling
Because its underwater, it drowned, its no longer dying
So she gets up on her own two feet and closes her eyes
And falls head first in the lake, she chose to die
