Is Anyone There?

Is Anyone There?

A Poem by Joey Martinez

She's lost in the darkness, waiting for someone to show her the light
Waiting for someone to tell her that everything is gonna be alright
You can see the pain in her eyes, they speak of tragic events
She's looking for someone to live in her heart, and not just to rent
People see her dwelling alone in the corner of the room
Just letting the darkness flow around her, going inside her to consume
No one cares to ask whats wrong, no one cares to lend a helping hand
No one cares to bring her on her feet, to make her feel what it is to stand
The pain and suffering has her bowing at its feet
I know its eating her alive like a piece of tender meat
She never speaks, but I know she's screaming for someone to care
But all they do is make fun of her, point, laugh, and stare
I know she's praying for a friend, for someone to come and save her from the dark
Because each day, the pain is eating her up as if she was being fed to a shark
Please, someone out there help this poor soul
I'm afraid her heart is gonna turn black like coal
And you're probably asking, why don't I help her? Why don't I try?
Because that girl is me, and if someone doesn't come soon, I'll die
I've reached my limit of dealing with this pain
I'm blinded by the darkness, and drowning in the rain
I hope soon enough a ray of sunlight shines upon my face
Because I don't know how much longer I can keep up with life's race
