Thank you

Thank you

A Poem by Joey Martinez

People call me a fool, most call me weird
Because I tell them you're always near
You died a long time ago
But you came back to prove your presence still shows
No one can see you but I
Every time I tell someone you're here, they say its a lie
I didn't hesitate to believe that you were by my side
Because you told me you would come back right before you died
I know it hurts you to see people call me crazy
I know it hurts you to see me skip school and be lazy
I know it hurts you to see me get high and have my mind all hazy
But the thought of having you here by my side even though you died is too amazing
I never believed in spirits, I didn't think they exist
But once I felt that strong weight upon my wrist
I knew that was you holding my hand to prove you still exist
People think I'm talking to myself all the time
But in reality, its me asking you how was your day? Everything fine?
I love how you came back when I needed you the most
I still consider you alive and well rather than just a ghost
Sometimes I wonder, are you here because i can't get over your death
But I know you're here because you didn't want to leave me alone just yet
You wanted to make sure i was okay with the passing of your life
You wanted to come back and make sure that I was alright
Thanks to you, I'm back on my feet, standing tall
Thank you for grabbing me before I endured the fall of losing it all
You can rest in peace now, all is fine
I love you so much, now go to heaven and shine
