She's here

She's here

A Poem by Joey Martinez

You watch from above, but I sense you here
I can feel your aura I know you're near
And with you by my side, I have no fear
No matter if its bright day or dark night
As long as I have you, everything is alright
Ever since you past away
I knew you were gonna protect me everyday
I miss physically touching your soft luscious face
I miss the days we got our new toy cars and had a race
I miss the times where we played in the field together
I miss that day when you showed me how to catch a floating feather
And I'll never forget the first day we met
I was sitting all alone, worried and no friends were made yet
But you came along and sat by my side
I haven't felt that happy since I went on my first bike ride
You sat by me, introduced yourself and told me a silly joke
It was like you knew how much being alone was killing me,
So you came along and gave me hope
I try not to remember that tragic day that tore my life apart
Instead I sit here in my room, looking at our pictures and art
I promise you, as I grow older, I will take you wherever I go
Because with you by my side, I'm happy like a kid playing in snow
I know our paths will cross once again when I go to heaven
Happy birthday Jennifer, how does it feel to be 11?
