The GuardianA Poem by Joey MartinezI watch her from above, I protect her from the evil that surrounds She is my everything, she is what makes my world go round I am her guardian angel and I will do whatever it takes to keep her alive I promised her I'd protect her forever back when we were five Ever since my death, I vowed my only duty was to protect the love of my life I wish I was still alive, I know she would of been my beautiful wife But God has a plan for everyone, It was my time to depart But I'm glad I got to fall in love with Gods finest art As soon as I arrived to heaven, I knew what I had to do from the start To keep her safe and nourish her heart I know she feels my aura around her luscious skin She knows I'll be there to wipe away the tears before it reaches her chin I know my death caused her a tremendous deal of pain I saw her cry more than a storm of flooding rain But before I departed, I told her to keep being strong for me Because now that I'm here, my eyes can see it all and stretch further than the sea I know she can't physically feel my kiss before she goes to sleep I always tell her I love you, but I know she can't hear me, not even a peep Every day when she wakes up I kiss her on the cheek and give her a huge hug And when she steps out on rainy days, I cover the puddles and have her step on me like a rug When dinner time comes, I always blow on her food so it doesn't burn her perfect lips And when she comes home from work sore, I always massage her back and hips It breaks my heart to see her look at a picture of me and cry Sometimes I wish I didn't die But I realized that being up here is a better place Even though I have the biggest urge to have her feel my face But up here I can protect her all the time As long as her heart beats, I'll be fine She is what keeps me alive Now let me kiss her good night, its her bed time
