The Jump

The Jump

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Walking along side the mountains
Glazing at the moon
Wondering... where are you?
it kills me that you're so far
It destroys my mind and crumbles my heart
This war caused so much damage
Far more than we can manage
I'm hoping one day we meet again
And stay side by side till the end
I lost count on how many days we parted
Because you were and still are
All I think about when this war started
I wish i had the strength to pull this town together
So we can meet and talk about how we'll last forever
The gap between the west and the east is too far wide
But i'm thinking about trying the jump so i can retrieve whats mine
Today's the day I'm gonna try
I just hope I grew some wings so I won't die
I tie my shoes and take a few steps back
Hoping I jump over the impossible gap
HERE I GOOOOO
I SEE THE OTHER SIDE
I'M ALMOST THERE
But i'll never see her face again
A black hole is all I can stare
I didn't make it, I glaze down at my death
Baby I tried, this is my last breath
I just wanna say before I go
I love you
