ReboundA Poem by Jo Todd
I'm an idiot
What took me so long to realise? Blind eyes and clouded mind they can take the blame I thought you were what I needed could I have been more wrong? You were just filling a hole Staunching the blood whilst my heart was healing A rebound that stuck around that couldn't take a hint that couldn't see the angry glint in my eye like a tumour you grew on me like some insipid mould, thoughts of you spread through my mind made me forget you were just temporary made me forget to bin you like the metaphorical garbage that you are Your whispered words of love so quickly whispered into the ears of another but stupid little me could only see your smoke and mirrors Well you shall not have a single of my tears I'm saving them for the next rebound
