A melody, divineA Poem by Joel Armstrong Through the mountains of yore Of man made tunnels I pass, Dame nature's subtle, yet ethereal form, Flashes by. In a blink they go Remaining in my eye For nigh one- sixteenth of a second. Yet it remains chiseled into my memory. The voice of the hills and valley, I discern. A song emancing from The bosom of Dame nature.. And when she sings All listen, closely With rapt attention, To hear the wisdom Behind her divine melody. And those foolish mortals Who remain unmindful To this sublime affair And basks in the murk of His own ignorance, Is cursed to remain, the rock He's become. A mere croaker in a well. But to those who heed Her tranquil tune, Shall be unchained from Their monotonous tethers To become one with Dame nature.
