A broken heart

A broken heart

A Poem by Joel Armstrong

 Do you know,
What it feels like ,to have
Thine heart ,broken
Into many a fragment

Not by love, spite or hatred,
But by sheer ignorance of the mind.
The things that truly matter,
Severed.

To have your heart bleed ,with
Empty love
To be forgotten,
Like a casual memory.
A ludicrous query,
Wouldn’t you say?
For its answer is rather lucid.
The mere figment of my imagination,
that you are, a heartless creature
Shall never bear the pain,
Of a broken heart.
But for now,
sardonically
You alone remember me

Deep write here. as for broken heart...i know both of it you speak of. which one is worse? I'll leave it to the individual to decide. neither one is a good experience. but as always, pain reminds me of this: do you know the one thing pain is good for? No? Simple, it lets you know, that you're still alive.

100 points.

What a nice piece it shows what people actually feel sometimes when they are heartbroken, the funny thing about heartbreak is we actually don't know how we can express our words sometimes but you just gave a better way. Nice one

Thank you my friend : )
Great poem! It tells what many people don't know of, that a heart is not always broken by love.

By sheer ignorance of mind? I couldn't agree more with that.
You have no idea how much sense that line conveys. I know thos is supposed to be a sad piece..but the narrator sounds determined and strong.
I like its tone and how it doesnt sound overtly emotional. Its very well balanced. Good one chekka :*

Is not this a heart with out any hope? Considering that love moves the world, love is what really matters! About other things - we may overcome it! With love in our hearts! A great hug poet, fom Brazil!
