Red sky at nightA Poem by Joe LittlewoodOn the eve you were born the sky was red raw The sun a blood orange infringing the fields Sleep was just a dream so I walked for hours The air was cold, though spring was near I thought of your mother, I thought of her pain Of my emotive ache burning in rapport Will you know me one day, my darling? Will you hold my hand, kiss my cheek? Or will your mother’s poison Preserve me from your life? As the crimson heavens turned to dark blue My hopes aligned with the dying day I love you my angel even though we’ve never met Just remember you have a father, That’s all I ask of you. © 2018 Joe Littlewood |
