"

Quite brutal

"

Sitting in the corner,
Head bowed low,
She dreads the next time
She hears her name.

The stench of strong alcohol and tobacco
wafts up the stairs.
His voice deep,
The clunk of his boots on the floor,
Reminds her it will start again.

The beating and bruising, she’s only 16.

She cries for him to stop,
Fear flowing though her.
The belt isn’t the worst;
the chains leave her black and blue.

She tries to escape,
But gets dragged back by the neck.
With no one to talk to,
She pleads for you.
Her mother dead he choked her too.

Her cries go out empty. Will you help Sophie?

She has lost all hope,
And puts up with the crap.
When he’s out cold
She goes to school.

Out of view she gets a call from you,
She walks out and he is arrested,
She never sees him again,
And Sophie is now protected.
