"

When we think of a lover's hand,
did we ever imagine
the wrath it holds?
Rage built into such
loving arms.

When we think of a lover's voice,
did we expect shouts of anger
belting out?
Hatred coming from
a soothing cord.

Or did we confess to something

Pleading to something that
never existed, we never created.
Seeing stars, hearing crashes.

Black and blue...

When we see a lover's tears,
did we wipe them away because
how sad it was?
Apologies flowing from red eyes.

When we felt a lover's affection,
did we comprehend the idea
that this might not be right?
Only physical and emotional scars
for loving too much.

You won't do it again.
Never again.
Again, you do.
Still again, I love you.
