Lungs, Fists and Lockets.

Lungs, Fists and Lockets.

A Poem by JoJo Hallows

Set my hands down but my heart still pumps like a clenched fist. You say you have the capacity to take me under. A love so great I can barely breathe. I need your water filling my lungs. I need to die in your arms. I’ve always been an infidel but I’ll commit to your watery grave. Your salt looked like sugar. You burn and fizz in my nose, inhaling a depth a body shouldn’t take in.

We whisper I love you in the night under tired breath. I’ll push you in just to push you away like the tide. A test of your heart, will you fight? Will you stay? Keep love in sight. Run to each other with intent in our pockets. Keep our passionate hearts in our ancestor’s lockets.
