The Phoenix

The Phoenix

A Poem by Jen

It is something...

The phonenix - ascending flight

A lost feather, a drop of tear ...of many

Hollow - a void

Half a soul a' roaming

A nearly failed battle

Wrapped in sadness - remaining half a soul

Pierced eyes gazing at the sky

At loss or difficult challenge

Wondering if the phoenix shall return

I have never before thought of the phoenix, in terms of the spiritual union of separated souls, as the dynamic of resurrection. And, I have studied symbols for more than a decade- Wow! Thank you. I am humbled and in awe of this poem.

You write,
At loss or difficult challenge
Wondering if phoenix shall return

The phoenix you describe implodes with 'mythic message'.
You depict a creature that exists in wonderment and mythic quality, but becomes real in description, so to retain kinetic energy enough to convince the reader of its return in the idea of its 'absence'.
The reader follows the poem line by line becoming hypnotized.
WIth your line, "Pierced eyes gazing at the sky....Total absorbtion occurs,
The power of the Phoenix lies in the writer's pen. Marvelous! Sabine*
