Good GirlA Poem by Jmsavesthedaywhen the loss of an animal is the loss of a childshe wasn't mine. but her heart belonged to the same person mine did. in that way we were family
there was never any question of loyalty hers for him and his for her. there was no question of priority hers for him and his for her there was no question of jealousy mine for them only deep deep admiration
it was clear they were each other's complement. so dependent on one and other his inhale expanded her lungs she was strength and kindness in him he was support and gentleness in her where his foot planted her foot followed
what wasn't apparent, at least at first was the depth of love she was his daughter and he loved her like that she was his shadow and his reason and she is gone now ripped from his life
his lung, heart, gut, brain, hand, eye taken this half person is mine to hold and support but my legs are unsteady, weak kneed in the wake of my own sadness she wasn't mine but she was mine all the same my heart belonged to the man who's heart belonged to her now his is broken and mine is fractured
a friend said "there is nothing to do but grieve and hold on." I'm no good at the former so I just do the latter. hold on. to his hand. to his shaking shoulders and think about how she would've known what to do to make us both feel better
You are so loved Wookie.
