Engulfed

Engulfed

A Story by Johnny Westbrook

Standing in flame as the race into my lungs, I close my eyes as the hellfire burn my nostril hairs. I sweat, I breathe heavily, and fall to my knees. This burning is damn near unbearable. I begin to cough as the inferno within me race down my tongue and out my mouth. The heat has killed my tongue. I feel no heat, I taste no flame, because I am now part of the flame... and the flame... me. Opening my eyes and slowly standing back to my feet, I clinch my fist with anger around my firery heart. As my anger builds, I shout out in a beastly furry as the flames diminish and becomes a smoke surrounding me. My breathing calms, the smoke vanishes... all is tamed to my will. Hell is within me... The world is in danger.
