The Ocean and the Rock

The Ocean and the Rock

A Poem by Jeremy Litton
"

This is poem about desiring to have deep relationship with others and helping other people while also growing in my relationship with Christ.

"

A light sprinkle hits my neck

All around me is black water

The water is nothing, it is void

The nothing will take you deeper and deeper

Until you are nothing

But my feet are atop the rock

The Rock will never go under

The Rock will always be here to stand upon

The Rock is my safe haven

The Rock is my Salvation

Upon this Rock I will stand

Ever patient, with love in hand

I want you to be here with you

Feel you close, feel your hand

For my love for you is deeper than you know

It swells and grows all the more

And even though you cannot be here now

I know that my love for you will stand

For my love comes from the Rock

It is on the rock, one day, we will stand

Here, together, hand in hand

For now however, I will stand alone

Growing with the Rock to take my hand

Through the patience and the ever long waiting

My other hand is outstretched toward you

Being ever patient, and filled with love

So now the choice is up to you

To take my hand and stand

With our hands together

But the Rock, forever under our feet

Making us better, together
