Mama, I'm so far away

Mama, I'm so far away

A Poem by wandering daughter

Mama, I’m so far away
And I’ll be gone for a while

I’m learning what it is to be a woman
I’m learning to stand my ground

What does it mean to be a woman?
Is it the willingness to sacrifice
or the strength to hold on?
The need to compromise
or the courage to walk on?

Tell me, what does it mean
to be a woman?

stepping out for the first time....you put a ton of indecision in here and not a little wonder, in so few lines.....As the door to the world opens up before you..Great

I really liked the way you created a gap betwen you and mama - I know the pain of that distance. Did mama not show you, by example, what it means to be a woman - or have you been unable to accept her version of womanhood? Just wondering. Well written and you leave it open ended so that your reader is forced to grapple with the question on their own. Well done!

You will find this out on your own.

Then you will be a woman. :-)

Concise, insightful little write.
