An aged hand passes over a single candleflame

Thoughts dance in sway to the fire's charm

Eyes glow with a gentle, golden warmth

A smile arises upward, stoked by a sudden inspiration

Pen scorches ink to an untouched field of paper

As thus begins a new chronicle of a writer's imagination

it is amazing what can spark a grand tale or pleasant poetry. to think where that creative measure rests within each of us and is ignited somehow. I do wonder if all have it and only some of us use it. I think it just comes out different in left brainers :) Really got me thinking early this morning. Thank you!

I think that's part of the fun of it, the mystery and all as one ponders where that "spark" comes from... and how it is ignited can happen so very differently to. For some its a traumatic even, while for others it could be during that peaceful moment. I feel that in each of us, we ALL have the ability, to listen to "the voice in your head"... I think it really just boils down to the willingness to not only listen, but to act on it as well.

I wish I could listen to Salinger or Hemingway talk for many hours. A writer's view on life who saw hell and back.

Great writers make words have life. I liked the above lines. The writer's imagination. Wild and can go to the unknown. Thank you Carthage for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you! It's a lot of fun to think about how it "all-started" and where it takes a writer... how they got there and what action they take to write down what they are inspired about and wish to write. Though, often times I feel there are those too who are afraid to take action, because of the uncertainty and like a candle short of a wick... that "inspiration" burns out unless otherwise a new match is set to it later on down the road.

Thank you, I certainly did attempt to really bring about that "sudden flare" that comes from being inspired right out of nowhere and then trying to write it all down before it disappears. I'm thinking of lengthening the poem with another stanza to perhaps even further emphasize or embellish that thought.
