Leaves in the WindA Poem by Carthage Thorne| The WildcardInspired from a day out in the early fall of September a few years ago.Leaves in the Wind
As a wolf that howls to a full moon So too, the wind sings its tune Stripped down to the branches are the trees To the harsh, icy barbarians of the north, they've lost their leaves Yet do not despair, for despite having lost their former glory The tale is all but over, so gather round and listen to this story The leaves, like fallen warriors are they Have yet to indulge surrender on this very day Though they are no longer hung up high There still is hope as the sun clings to the sky Watch as they dance freely and without care Hypnotized by the melody of this lively air Donned in dresses of orange, scarlet, golden and brown They dance gaily under a festive crown So little and so fragile are they Tread lightly, and do not crush them I pray Stand aside, or join in if you dare After all, Fall is the best season, for such a fair © 2018 Carthage Thorne| The WildcardFeatured Review
