A thought I had about what it means when one hurts someone else.
A Human Heart,
In my anger I take a stick and I etch it
into the smooth shore
Cutting into the sand massaged and tended by
gentle rolling tides
The damage now done, I dare look down and
see my mistake
Convicted and led to make amends I fall down
upon my knees and taking my hands I work to fill the cut in the sand though now
tried as I might to fill the pain,
There now remains a dull ache and looking
upon the spot which I cut the sand and it, like a scar is covered with a slight
mound of sandy granules which still tell the tale
However, it isn’t long that as the time
comes, mercifully and with grace do the waves roll up upon the beach, washing
over this scar on the sandy shore
The waves recede and behold, the sand is
smooth once again, not a single sign of what was wronged by my transgression
Peace restored and I realize now, that this
is the true... ultimate and complete forgiveness
Depending on how much damage was done, the wound can take much longer to heal. I feel like in general we have to be careful, or there could be instances where no matter what... the damage was too great and we really messed up. Life needs to be treated carefully, wouldn't you agree?

The mercy of the sea, the mercy of the lake. Show us the right place to be.

I lost anger often to the Pacific. The dancing sea, teach us peace. Thank you Carthage for sharing the amazing poetry.

I personally also have found piece often either upon the shores of a lake or the ocean, the very few times I was blessed to be by an ocean shore. One of my favorite things to do also is take a rock, put whatever I feel I don't need to hold onto anymore into that rock and then I toss it out to the ocean or lake, knowing I don't ever have to deal with the hurt or pain again unless I'm foolish enough to dive in after it.

I have done the same. I collect the rocks too and you are welcome Carthage.

I have seen all too often what it does to a person, when there is no peace from having not forgiven... especially, themselves.
When you forgive truly you forgive self and others and let go- then you set yourself free from others bondage- we are all cracked vessels thats how the light gets in- the deeper the cut the smoother the scar- excellent reflection 🌹

And I feel that this is also something that many people forget is that you can not "only" forgive others but you "must" forgive yourself too. I don't know exactly why or how it works, but the same holds true for loving really which is what it boils down to how can we as individuals ever love others unless we first love ourselves, and its not to say that it is in any way selfish but it "is" to say that and has been proven often... often we treat others or look at others as we first see ourselves.

The day that I had the thought, it really was a way of looking at how true forgiveness works as well as grace, and it wasn't long after that this poem came out to be as it seemed the only way I could express the thought which I was thinking about that day.
