I decided to turn my last poem into a song. This is mostly improvised - the song isn't finished. My girlfriend, Amanda, was the camerawoman.
If you were star- Dust dusting Space-stuff And your light- Ways and dark- Things wished Wistfully into the distance Listening to each Always and Ever, Whether it's nether- Sleep or forever- Leaving their weeping- Feelings and waning- Unconscious consciences it says, vicariously, "My light-ways and dark-things take care of me;"
I really love the way this recording turned out. You are such a talented songwriter. Your words come out sung in the perfect flow and rhythm to correspond with the structure of the poem, free flowing with a nice transition between the two appropriately separate versus. It works in a way that really shows how each word echoes and sometimes contradicts each other...because that is the nature of being. There is no true dichotomy. Everything exists together, even those things (within us) that seem contradictions, that seem dangerous for us. Your voice and the music you wrote for this poem also manages to sound chillingly melancholy (which most people can't accomplish on a ukulele because they treat it like a happy fluff instrument). I really appreciate it. You're brilliant!
Also, kudos to the camerawoman. She must be awesome. ;) Well done, dear!
