Ire;

Ire;

A Poem by Jimi Brady
"

Momentary anger.

"

            Inhale;

I took hold of myself; hand-in-hand and eyes straight ahead and I could feel you from across the room and it felt like impending doom. I thought twice about saying what I needed to say, and other thoughts came to me so trivial and vain (“I need to shave tomorrow or yesterday,” and “have you heard this new song I can play?”). And nothing came out right and my skin was pale as ash and my eyes were burning green and it was all I could do to not scream the things that came to me then; anger took hold of me and cast me out again.

                      Exhale;

I love single moments, and this is stunning. The imagery was phenomenal, and the emotion was just so well presented. The one breath is great, it's focused and really conveys thr complexity we possess because we all in those small moments can feel a thousand things and disconnect or reattach or whatever we need to do, because one small breath can change everything. Love this :) (if it wasn't obvious)

Hey Jim, I really enjoyed reading this. All the things that can happen in a single breathe. An entire existence put through the test, a instant stretched to light speed while all the variables are studied... Then the moment pass, and we carry on with our day. A smart bite-size of what life is all about, you brilliantly captured the millions of decisions we could take, and more importantly, the ones we don't... Well done sir!

We all have those momentary events or burst of feelings that some can control , some can't so they have to release it somehow so they tend to do it in so many form . You have touched on anger in this simple but powerful aspect of the human psyche...Well done dear poet...:)

Anytime, I enjoy good reading :)
Everything about this resonates in a deep dark place inside my mind. The flow is just perfect; it reads like it was meant to be spoken aloud. The "inhale", "exhale" illustrates the way you rush through all these thoughts you had. What a moment! I've been there. I think about a thousand things I'd like to say, bold things, angry things, mundane things, and I mull it over, and by the time I let out that breath, it's gone, along with the air from my lungs. I get caught up in the feeling of "impending doom" and fear that the words won't come out right. The image of you, almost a distortion with your eyes intense against your skin, is truly chilling and offers that unnatural perception of a person on edge. This is exactly what I experience all the time when I get angry but can't bring myself to say what I need to say, even to vent. It can be frustrating but ultimately, it's probably for the best.
Also, great rhyme scheme within this paragraph. I love the way one thought and image and action sort of runs into the next until "anger" casts you out again. Absolutely compelling. Makes me want to know more about the situation inciting your ire. A++, Mr. Brady. :)
