CHAPTER 15: CONGRATS

CHAPTER 15: CONGRATS

A Chapter by Jim

MARCH 17, 2185

TIME AGENCY HQ

Everyone was gathered when Seth and Lee returned, eagerly waiting for the news. Lee stood up at a podium and gave the triumphant story. The book had been returned to the end of time; Kevin was in Time Jail for life; the Reset was successful and everyone who was killed was salvaged.

He also mentioned the sad and tragic passing of their leader Johnny. Everyone went silent and bowed their heads, in remembrance. Seth somberly put a picture of Johnny on his work station and everyone clapped. “Don’t worry,” Seth said to the picture, quietly, “I won’t disappoint you, my blonde headed leader.”

            Then the wine was opened.

            The celebration started.

Seth walked around, accepting his congrats from everyone. He walked up to Lee. “So…now what?”

Lee leaned in. “Don’t you dare tell a soul about the truth of you.”

            “Isn’t that ille"”

“Forget that right now. What matters is you’re one of the best agents we’ve ever had. We can’t lose you.”

            “Okay.”

“That being said…congratulation on saving time.” Lee smiled and patted Seth on the back. He threw his arm around Seth’s shoulders to hug him.

“Thanks, you too. You deserve some credit.”

“But I wasn’t the ex of the Quagmire’s late daughter. We literally could not have done that without you.”

“Yeah, I guess that’s true. So, what’s that thing you were referring to back at Weehawken, that you said there wasn’t time for?”

            “Oh, yeah, it was"”

A repeating beep went off. Seth jumped and looked around, and Lee pulled out his watch. A little red dot blinked on the screen. Lee clicked it and a message popped up:

MISSION REPORT: KNIGHTS ACCUSED OF STEALING KING’S CROWN IN MEDIEVAL TIMES. URGENT CASE; 2 AGENTS NEEDED. KING HELD, THREATENED WITH DEATH; WIFE SKEWERED WITH KNIGHT’S SWORD.

Lee looked up at Seth, who nodded in agreeance.

“Looks like there’s still no time.” They both laughed.

Lee slammed down on his watch, and the red swirly portal was opened once more.
