Michael

Michael

A Poem by J

i loved you

between the fallen

night sky and overbright mornings

    left over

           left unanswered

repeating . . . repeating. . . repeating

taking no notice of wee

ones

stretched, stressed, paused in

animated living to stare in abject panic

at imminent

danger

they were mine.  they were

           me

and i never understood

how you would

how you could

and still expect i would

s.t.a.y.

And now you’ve left this world, my

heart still attached, love

of my life,

my Vietnam Marine, my broken

hero

riddled

with cancers . . .

    Agent Orange speaking for

all the care and gratitude of a nation

drowning in its own disregard

And you took with you all the rage

That the world placed at your feet

That couldn’t be drowned in one more

bottle of Jim Beam

     That nobody cared

to even acknowledge

you never stood a chance.

W.E. never stood a chance.

I will hold your memory, Michael

in the box i keep on my closet shelf

bound in tender care, yellowed ribbons and

all the dreams that might have been

A beautiful piece of writing and even more so, the sight of your love and admiration for a tragic, sick human being.. your friend. One rarely knows or understands just how deeply pain travels, Empathy doesn't always show its face... in your case, for that friend, it did most definitely

Fine writing, wonderful phrasing, your heart held the pen here. ,

Turning away now.. desperately sad for you, for Michael.

This is poetry for the soul! Writing such a litany of love to one you loved shows your heart upon your sleeve...and what a heart it is!

I love you, girl!

'All the dreams that might have been'...what an emotional journey summed up in the varietals of loss. Striking a balance between that and what came to be is next to impossible. But love keeps the bridge in usable repair despite the torrents of disappointment.

Wonderful tribute to your mighty love!

your brand of tribute and remembrance is what counts in the universe, much more than any of the day-to-day nonsense of this crazy mixed up world
